National Underwater Research Center

The National Underwater Research Center was established in 2013 to conduct a comprehensive study on the objects found at the bottom of the Baltic Sea and reconstruct the historical events that preceded the sinking of the objects. In 2014, NURС, along with the Russian Geographical Society, founded the Underwater Research Center of the Russian Geographical Society. NURC’s specialists headed the research team, and due to the technical and professional capabilities of the new team, it became possible to explore not only home region – Baltic Sea – but also other parts of the country.

Central Naval Museum

The Central Naval Museum – one of the oldest museums in Russia and one of the largest maritime museums in the world. The museum originates from the St. Petersburg Model Chamber – shipbuilding storage models and drawings. The date when the Saint-Petersburg Model Chamber was first mentioned in records is considered its birthday. It was on January 24, 1709 when Peter I, who at the time was with his army in the Ukraine, sent instructions to A.V. Kikin, reading: “Take the Model Chamber out of my house and place it by the shipyard, wherever a proper place is available …”. The Model Chamber was located in the Main Admiralty, where to build ships of the Baltic Fleet.

Kronstadt History Museum

The Kronstadt History Museum was established in 1991. It has four spacious halls. Each hall has its own theme and is used as a venue for exhibitions. The museum has a large collection of relics, including many unique exhibits and historical documents, weapons, household items, ship models, letters and personal belongings of notable people from Kronstadt.

Krylov State Research Center

The Krylov State Research Center is one of the world’s major ship research & design centres established in 1894. Over its century-long efforts in the field of innovative R&Ds for the benefit of national shipbuilding, in the best interests of the country’s defense and economic development, the Krylov Center has accumulated the wealth of unique expertise in development of naval ships, commercial vessels and offshore structures. The center also works with leading shipbuilding companies from the United Kingdom, France, Norway, USA, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping is an international classification society established in 1913. It is a state technical supervision and marine classification institution operating under the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. DNV GL is an international accredited registrar and classification society, focused on providing audit, consulting and risk management services. It was founded in 2013 as a result of a merger between Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd.
