Sergey Fokin, the Executive Director of the Underwater Research Center of the Russian Geographical Society,has been appointed Deputy Head of the Expeditionary Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The Expeditionary Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was established in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergey Shoygu,dated June 23, 2016.
The main task set by the leadership of the Expeditionary Center is the consolidation of efforts and improved interaction between the Ministry of Defense, Russian Geographical Society and numerous public associations. Such interaction will primarily be implemented in the Western Military District, as it has a unique historical, cultural, and geographical status. The first steps have already been made in the right direction. On December, 5, a tripartite agreement on cooperation in preserving the military and historical heritage by implementing joint projects between the Expeditionary Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Central Naval Museum, and the Underwater Research Center of the Russian Geographical Society will be signed at the Central Naval Museum.
Another task the Center is working on, together with the Young Army Cadets National Movement, is creating children’s expeditionary center for the development of patriotic expeditions and volunteer movement for young Russian patriots.
